Rava Dosai - ரவா தோசை - A Do it yourself Video
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 9:15PM
The recipe is not new.
Also, San was nice enough to do the videotaping when I made this for tiffin this evening and was able to upload without having to do any editing.
It is not difficult at all and you can make 5-6 dosai's by mixing 1 cup rava, 1 cup rice flour and two cups water in under 35 minutes.
Hope you have fun making Rava Dosai!

Sundar and Sangeetha great job with Rava Dosai. When can we come over for eating.
Sundar Sir!
Looks good! But lots of "yennai"!!
PM
Revathi, anytime..
San will co-ordinate..
:)
PM, the oil stays in the nonstick pan.. I use a bounty towel and wipe off excess oil.
Appreciate the commitment you & San has to do this. Hats off!
sundar:
at this rate, i will not need to make 'north indian' food ;-).
here is a slightly different version that v.b. taught me which might not need as much 'yennai'.
mix rava and buttermilk (yogurt may be used instead, though buttermilk gives better results) to desired consistency and add salt to taste (no salt if health issues don't permit). that is it, no more 'required ingredients'.
if you wish, you can add onions, chopped fine, and also green chillies, also chopped fine.

Hi Sundar,
One technical question - I have the same dosa tava and in just 2 months there is black deposits on the side. How does your dosai tava stay so clean? Can Sangeetha reveal the secret?
thanks,
Poorni
Can tell you the secret Poorani
always take oil and coat it all the way to the edge of the pan before using it for anything..
:)
(do it all the way to the rim
also, after you are done with making anything, quickly show hot pan under warm water from the tap.
(that helps wash things off . sure you will get a lot of steam from the pan when you do this), but it is worth it.
:)
