Cherry blossom dream come true at Mt. Fuji shrine

Our second stop in the Mt. Fuji area was to climb up a bill to the Arakurayama shrine and see views of the valley and Mt. Fuji from this hill top shrine.

We were told that it was a pretty hard hike. My friends son was not feeling well that morning and he braved it to this point but needed rest. So four of us went up. We promised to do our best to go as fast as we could and come back. There was a short drive from Lake Kawaguchiko to a parking lot for this shrine. We crossed a road and were faced with a bunch of steps that keep coming.

The beauty was that there were cherry blossoms everywhere at this high altitude. We thought Kyoto was our last interaction. This was mind boggling. We enjoyed the hike to the top, got to soak in some amazing views and came back down.

Mt. Fuji from Lake Kawaguchiko - Japan Trip Day 7

We were up and ready outside the hotel by 5:30 AM. Our Pakistani driver was very courteous and told us that every 30 minutes makes a difference. Some folks leave at 6 from Tokyo and never even get to Mt. Fuji in traffic and come back. That is why he wanted us to leave at 4:30 AM so we beat traffic both ways. He wanted to speak in HIndi but not everyone in our group was fluent in Hindi so we kept telling him to talk in English if possible and he tried his best.

We drove a good 2+ hours to lake Kawaguchiko area with beautiful views of Mt. Fuji from various angles for the last 30 minutes of the drvie. Once we parked at the first parking lot, we got to walk through a flower garden with some amazing views. Also saw a dog in the middle of the garden. Have never seen such a beautiful dog. Eventually the owner came and walked away. It was just hanging out all by itself, a sight to behold.

The mother of all crossings at Shibuya- Japan Day 6

After visiting the electronic city, we were going to Shibuya crossing to experience the worlds most not so pedestrian pedestrian event..

There was a request from the ladies to stop two train stations earlier and walk through a market which had beauty supply stores in Harajuku area. There was yet another uniqlo store there and me and my friend both got more pants (dont ask!). There was more eye rolling from the ladies and we made a mental note that sometime an extra suitcase purchase was required before the return trip.

we did stop by a few stores to get an idea of suitcase prices and made the long walk from Harajuku to Shibuya. We spent a good 30 minutes at the crossing, going from every point to every other point with the crowd and taking pictures and time lapse videos. Was very proud of the group for holding as still as possible for the time lapse videos.

Then we tried to get food there but we were not lucky. I was also reminding that group that while they could always get something to eat in the hotel (there was a Sizzlers and Starbucks at the Tokyo dome which some group members were eyeing since we checked in), I had to deal with wet clothes that needed laundry. So off we went to the hotel. While everyone else went for dinner, I ate a packet of Parle G biscuits, grabbed change and went to the laundry in the 7th floor. Waited there for 2 hours and by the time the clothes dried and got back to the room at 11 everyone was asleep.

While we were in electronic city earlier, our driver for the next days event called us and asked us if we could be ready by 4:30 AM the following morning. We told him “no way” and said 5:30AM was the best we could do.

We were to get up at 5 and be outside the hotel at 5:30. So I came back with the laundry and crashed.. Day 7 was going to be interesting..
