Blast from the Past

No. we are not talking about my childhood here. We are skipping a generation.

During the recent India trip, my dad handed me some old photos which I had mailed him 16 years ago. Photos for which there were no negatives left because like an idiot, I had sent the negatives to India also and they were lost.

As a bonus he also handed me something from his shaving box (metal box which was his equivalent to my shoe box) and gave me things which he had preserved. Thought I should have it, because of my being internet and media savvy, this might be preserved in some form somewhere. Felt honored to receive his box!

One of those things in the box, was this old postcard he handed me, the only sample of his father's handwriting in his possesion. A letter written by my grandfather (who I never met! he had passed away when my dad was a teenager) in 1957.

It is tough when you lose your mother at 4 and your dad at 18 and all you have is a photo of your mom! My dad did have a tough hand dealt to him as the youngest of 12 kids but he made it through to lead a good life.

Now, here is the letter..

That is one bad handwriting!

Here is to dad. The letter has been pieced together to the best of my ability and is now digitized.

Tomorrow will be spent in zooming into the letter and trying to read it.

Henna Ho!

Something to distract the little devils when they are at their worst behavior.

Pity it lasts only a few days. Then again, you get a fresh smile every now and then.

Talking about bad behavior, there has been allegations that it is correlated to this blog itself!

Using approximate numbers provided by two random sampling instances by wife and MIL for Jr. and the Little one respectively and averaging them out over a period of 24 hours starting at 7:30AM the data suggests ...

You know what they say? There are lies, damn lies and then there is Karl Pearson....

Their tantrums and health are correlated more to the average color of the family underwear when expressed on a scale of 0-255 than it is to the blog posts, but I cannot prove it with numbers as convincingly.

How could any lying mathematician?

Wax hands

Spent some time at our local Memorial Park to check out the Cherry Blossom festival. We did end up buying two things after promising each other that this would be a "window shopping only time". One was a pen stand made of nuts and bolts welded together. They had a stall full of arts and crafts made from welded metal pieces.

The other item was a wax hand! They make a painted impression of your hand in wax by alternately dipping it in molten wax and water. After seven or eight dips in wax they just pull the hand out effortlessly, let it dry, dip it in some colored wax and there you have it!

Jr. managed to keep her hands in position in the hot wax pretty well. The little one was not allowed because of the "5 years old" minimum age requirement. We never seem to learn. Before saying yes to one child for any activity, check minimum height, weight, age, size requirements for the other child!

Another April weekend whizzes past!

Meeting her ex...

Yes. It is never pleasant to meet your wife's ex boyfriend.

Especially when he is still pining for her, circling around her photograph two dozen times a day, and more times at night!

He looked depressed and tried to hide as I started clicking away. . .

That photo of my wife this creepy dude is circling with devotion? Well, it is a black and white of my wife taken when she was eight months old, standing up against a wicker chair, in her chaddi!

That photo always cracks me up everytime we visit her grandparents.

A really chubby baby. Real cute. They never mentioned the advertising experience in her horoscope. Found out about this only after we were married.

ps. Ever tell you I married the Farex baby?
