Entries in dressing up (14)
Missing in action
I have been traveling. That means a weekend presence with the kids, then gone again for the week type thing.
In between I "put scene" as though I am some stay at home dad by picking up kids from school wearing my sweatpants and sandals. While making conversation with the moms at school, they envy my wife for having such a "house husband" without realizing that I haven't been around much of this month.
It is fun to watch wife's face go all red and turn to "Bhadrakaali" mode when someone compliments her on having a husband who "shares" with the chores. Hey, one has to get his entertainment someplace, no?!
Then I get to have some fun taking pictures of the pretty girls as they dress up to go some event.
This time, made sure that there is a "family" picture.
The girls gave me a lecture on how my t-shirt and pants are not a match to them and why I should also "dress up" when going out. I dress formally every day during my travel. So there is no way I am dressing "up" during the weekend.
Now that summer is almost here, we will start doing more outdoor activities. Cannot wait for the long weekend in a few weeks!
The camera comes out, after a long time!
The girls were dressed in matching colors today. This begged for a backyard photo shoot!
The matching outfits reminded me of an old series of photos that were taken years ago!
Jr. is not the same model that she was a few years ago. She either smiles by covering her face or she has what she calls "smiling my way", which I don't understand at all.
The little one loves to pose, but she is so distracted that her eyes move away from the lens to something behind me or around me in a fraction of a second. This must be the impact of being on the iPad all the time, I tell myself. After calling out her name and saying "look INTO the lens" a few dozen times, get a clean shot if lady luck shines on me.
It has been more than two months and there are two snaps of them in the camera. So we made up for it. Once Jr. got into it she started doing funny poses for me. These days the sum total of fun in the faces of the two kids seems to be a constant. If one is happy, the other one becomes mellow and vice versa. Have not figured this out yet.. but given time, will figure out a fudge factor in that equation.
The dresses are a little on the orange shade, but the backyard light and lens has the white balance adjusted to make them show up like pink! iPhone photos show up as orange. Now I have a new challenge to work on.. understand what is going on with color balance!
Hope the trend continues and they pose for more photos.
Trick or treat
The little one seems to have a problem with the world in general, not to mention special issues with posing for daddy..
This is all we could manage after getting her to smile.
Jr. on the other hand totally enjoyed going out today.
All thanks to mommy for taking them out to the cousin's neighborhood for trick or treating. Daddy did not do a thing except stay home and dole out two candies, yeah, two candies, one each to the two four year old's who showed up over a 2 hour period!
Guess a street without street lights or a pavement does not invite many kids. Also the kids in the street have practically all gone to high school or college. That explains the drop in candy seekers in our area!
The kids are both at an age where they appreciate dressing up and love candy. Judging by our friends kids, guess we have just two more years before Jr. starts losing interest in this thing.
Until then, time to capture Halloween in pumpkin and costume pictures!
