i beg to differ - this is probably a first! this background is definitely perfect for someone with grey hair, but for the kids you need to have a light background, wouldn't you think so?
I try to use the wall.. but we get shadows or their hair that is not tightly combed sticks out and we have to photoshop it. my logic was, if the background is black, then their face stands out and the hair just blends into the background.

that picture with the wall background is very nice :-).
now i get your logic of shadows on the walls and also about the hair. either way, ultimately it is what *you* want that matters - there are critics galore in this world; you cannot possibly cater to everyone :-).
