Black Friday..

We went shopping yesterday. All day!

Either looking at what was there or actually buying things that were part of the plan.

We spent a lot of time with the four of us not throwing tantrums, all smiling and happy, eating out, checking out things to the point where it was our best day in a long long time that we can remember.

Daddy got an iPad, to replace lugging the laptop and power cord around office and for future travel. To complement it, we now have a futuristic keyboard that opens out like a Nissan Z from below the iPad. Way cool and nerdy!

The kids got some clothes and the boots they have been bugging us for the last six months..

Mommy got herself a hair clip for 3 bucks but was content with it! So we will leave it at that.

We as a family, are thankful for black friday!

Sales

Little One came home from school to find me in bed today. After giving her usual sorry for getting me sick and some small chit chat she goes

"Daddy, can you become a car salesman?"

Me : !!!! Why?

LO : So I can have a room to myself, we can have a second floor in our house and have grand birthday parties in our house and a pony in our backyard and pretty much anything we want!

Me : 1. Why do you need all that? and 2. Who told you that car salesman have all that?

LO : Muffy's dad is a car salesman and Muffy has all that. No other kids in hehttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifr class have all that! Only Muffy. Her dad's http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifname is Ed Crosswire and he is a car salesman!

Me : Do I know him? Have I seen him in your school?

LO : No.. No.. he is not real. He comes in "Arthur"!

Me : !!!!!!!!!!! Starting tomorrow you two are not going to watch anymore Arthur. We are done with this living in Arthur world and watching the same episodes of Arthur on the ipad day after day.

LO: Fine. But can you be a car salesman?

Me : What ?! That is a TV program. Real life car salesman are not that rich and living in mansions and you don't need any of that stuff. You should be happy with what you got!

LO : I am happy. Just wanted to check that is all..

Sometimes it is very difficult to answer these kids and set them straight. Even a supposedly educational program like Arthur on PBS kids can have devastating effects.. Who knew?!

Adai for Tiffin ?

An evening conversation after father's day celebration at the daycare between Jr. and me.

Me: didn't you say you were hungry at the function ? Daddy is going to make some Adai (south Indian crepe made from Lentil flour, red chilis and curry leaves). Do you want some ?

Jr. : Yes daddy.

Me : Here you go (and I give her a piece)

Jr.: This is so voraikkardhu (hot and spicy). I don't want it.

Me : (after tasting it) No, it is not! You have to eat at least one.

Jr.: No, I DONT WANT IT.

At this point I decided that the usual coaxing, cajoling, threatening etc. will not work. So I decided to take the same batter for 1 Adai and made 4-5 little adai's. They looked cute.

Me : I have a surprise for you. Come to the kitchen and see what I have made.

Jr. : (looks at it)You made baby adai's for me !? Give me one.

San who was busy feeding the little one, came back and was very impressed that I managed to get something inside Jr.

That "#1 DAD" medal that Jr. put around my neck at the daycare function.. I think I earned it!
