A day on Route 1 - Lets make that A fathers day on Route 1

We spent Father's day on Route 1, with my in laws and the cousin family.

Just tired and sunburnt after a long day at state parks and beaches. The sunburn mostly happened while sitting in the van in very slow moving traffic on the freeway with no access to sunscreen. Should start carrying a "dupatta" like the ladies to cover my face in situations like this.

Here are some pictures from the trip (more follow if time permits later this week)

First, a portrait of a Seagull.

Manged to get up close and personal with a few of the gulls on Bird Island in Point Lobos State Park..

Two more gulls, got real close at Sunset Beach (which was off of Route 1 in Watsonville).

The trick to getting them close seems to be :

1. pick a nice spot
2. park your butt there
3. select gull
4. wait patiently for it to do something
5. (ignore cries of kids and wait for gull to cry instead)
6. keep gull constantly in focus
7. click, click, click..

Finally a photo of one of the chicks, from daddy's own little nest..

We had a great father's day, with every kid on every beach, trail, state park parking lot, wishing all the dads in our group, a happy father's day.

The girls made sure that every adult male on the path was wished. It was hilarious to see them wish a boy who just sprouted a mustache (possibly doing a summer job)"happy father's day!".

Steve jobs threw a small spanner in the works, but all said and done, today was a day well spent. Three dads enjoying the company of mothers and kids, especially mother nature! Hope all the dad's who read this had a nice father's day as well.

Here's to being Daddy!

Ten years and counting

Finally San agreed to get this photo posted on the blog!

(Had to do some research to figure out how to get an animated gif image to show up on blogger. It did not work first. It does not work on facebook either. . hope this works)

Thanks to all for wishing us on our tenth anniversary. A big thanks from both San and me.

The little one had a surprise present for us last week. When San went to pick her up on her last day of school (Friday), all the teachers huddled around San and started congratulating her. Further investigation revealed that the little one had announced to her class and all teachers that she was expecting a baby brother, soon!

We should have drawn the line at imaginary friends. Now it has gotten to a point of having imaginary baby brother. San clarified to the whole school that there are no baby brothers in queue and all the teachers started running away, embarrased. Well, they have learnt their lesson "don't trust the little one, especially when she delivers blatant lies with straight face"

The LO put on a sad face, got all teary eyed when scolded for spreading lies and said "but I really wanted a baby brother and I don't wan to be the baby in the house anymore"

That set the tone for the laugh riot that followed the rest of the weekend.

Here is the little one all interested in meeting her idol, Dora the Explorer at Universal Studios

Here is the little one scared of Dora after the initial rush and hug!

Posing for daddy !

Posing for daddy again..

and because we are an equal opportunity blog when it comes to posting photos, here is one of Jr. posing fabulously in front of the Universal Studios entrance.

The fun continues....

10 years flies by

On our tenth wedding anniversary, we did what we do best. Did the SFO tour for visiting relatives.

The golden gate may not rank in the top 5 romantic spots in the world, but it sure ranks in the top 5 for us! Most notably the most romantic spots in our life being

1. our bedroom
2. our bedroom
3. our bedroom
4. our bedroom
5. golden gate bridge vista point

This was our umpteenthuncountableth visit to the vista point over the last ten years and we still had a blast in spite of the cold winds and chilly weather.

We also had a nice dinner at one of our local favorites, the Chaat house and followed it up with some dessert at out other favorite place (the reason we went to San Francisco in the first place!), Ghirardeli Square.

The ice cream as usual, was excellent.

So are the moments and memories!

This week will not see that many posts as we are going to celebrate the anniversary over a whole week with relatives and friends!

Once again, thanks to our parents who by logic or fluke got us together and more importantly to all powers unknown to us that played a part in this partnership!

As for the next ten years, we say "Bring it on!"

Cool girls

Went to WalMart earlier today. As usual, the little one enforced her new policy.

Cannot leave shop without buying her something, anything.

Today it was glasses. So the kids picked up glasses. Five dollars a piece. Considering all the long car rides that await us over summer, decided to buy them the glasses..

They did pose for pictures as soon as we came home

Indoors...

and outdoors..

Cool, no?

ps. Tonight at bed time, little one said "I was mad at you yesterday so did not say sorry. Can say sorry now and give you a kiss!" . Like WA said, this too shall pass..

Weekend Photos

The weekend was spent in San doing a traditional folk dance performance as part of a group of eight, a lot of quiet gardening and Jr. doing a coconut shell decoration.

The dance performance was impressive and so is the organization for which they did the dance. A separate post on India TEAM later.

As for gardening...

and for the artwork..

The week that started with a scare has ended nicely..
